In breeding practice, values of 400–500 kg/ha have been recorded for productive varieties, and under experimental conditions with optimal stand density, they have reached 631–658 kg/ha.

Forage productivity varies depending on the purpose: green mass averages 80–120 dt/ha, reaching 500 dt/ha in high-yielding varieties, while hay yield ranges from 15–20 dt/ha to 86.5 dt/ha. Maximum seed yields are usually obtained from 3rd to 4th-year crops.

Yield indicators are critically affected by agrotechnical factors, including seeding rate, timing of nitrogen fertilizer application, and maintaining optimal stand density. Both excessive thickening and thinning of crops negatively affect the number of generative shoots.
