Alstroemeria height is a key morphological trait in variety trials, determining the crop's purpose ranging from pot plants to cut flowers. The metric is measured from the soil level to the top of the inflorescence at the 50% flower opening stage.

To assess Alstroemeria stem height, UPOV protocols are applied, according to which measurements are taken on the first fully developed stem. The optimal moment for recording the metric occurs when about half of all flowers in the inflorescence are open. To obtain representative data, variety trials are typically conducted on a group of eight vegetatively propagated plants.

The height range of varieties varies from 15–40 cm for compact pot forms to 50–120 cm for varieties intended for cut flowers. In professional greenhouse conditions, the height of commercial hybrids can reach 150–220 cm. This trait is closely linked to agronomic practices: varieties taller than 1 meter require the mandatory installation of support structures to prevent stem lodging under the weight of the inflorescences.

Plant height determines cultivation technology, including planting density and the depth of the root system placement. When evaluating this parameter during trials, the influence of any growth regulators is taken into account, as they are capable of artificially altering the genetically determined height of a variety.
