For fuchsia, height is measured from the substrate level to the tips of the shoots. For standard forms, the height of the "clear stem" up to the first branching point is additionally recorded, with "full standard" (762–1067 mm) and "mini-standard" (152–254 mm) being distinguished.

Height values depend on the growth type: bush-like upright forms reach 30–100 cm in pots and over 120 cm in open ground, while trailing and semi-trailing forms are typically limited to 20–60 cm in length of pendulous shoots.

This trait is a manageable parameter: to control it, pinching above the 3rd–5th pair of leaves, light regulation, and the negative D.I.F. method are applied, where the difference between day and night temperatures restricts cell elongation.
