The Topaz variety belongs to the species Aeschynanthus humilis and is its yellow-flowered form, unlike the red or orange shades typical for the species. The plant is distinguished by its compact size and upright habit; the leaves are not succulent.

This variety is an ornamental flowering houseplant. The species A. humilis requires warm conditions and the maintenance of moderate soil moisture without water stagnation; if watering conditions are violated or if exposed to drafts, leaf drop may occur.
