The variety is an herbaceous perennial with a basal rosette of leaves. The inflorescences have a hemispherical shape and reach 10–15 cm in diameter. The flowers, 3–3.5 cm in diameter and 2–2.5 cm in height, are blue or medium-lilac in color with a veined pattern and are scentless.
