The variety forms round or rhomboid bulbs, usually growing in clusters of several per nest. At harvest, the scales are light reddish-brown in color, which becomes browner during storage. The flesh of the bulbs is white with purple shades.

It is characterized by noticeably thinner and highly branched foliage compared to other shallot varieties. The variety propagates vegetatively by dividing the nest and can sometimes form bulbils in the inflorescence. It is noted for its high dry matter content and good winter storage quality.
