The Caramelo hybrid is a yellow short-day onion with a flat bulb shape and low pungency. The plant possesses resistance to pink root rot and is intended for cultivation in southern regions for subsequent sale in the fresh market.

The Карамель variety of Russian breeding is distinguished by an elongated bulb shape with a weight of about 60 grams. The color of the dry scales has a caramel-purple hue. This is an early-ripening gourmet variety with a growing season of about 110 days, possessing a sweet, delicate, and semi-sharp taste.
