The bulbs have an elongated, spindle-like shape. The outer scales are purple or reddish-brown in color, and the inner flesh is white with characteristic purple veins.
The variety is late-maturing. It possesses an intense sweet flavor, which can become sharper depending on the soil type and irrigation. It is not characterized by high keeping quality and is prone to rapid sprouting after harvest.
Cultivation techniques involve sowing seeds at the end of August and transplanting by the beginning of November. The variety requires deep soils and regular irrigation without water stagnation. In an agronomic context, it is susceptible to fungal diseases typical for onions.
