The variety is classified as short-stemmed and is characterized by a remarkably thick stem. The leaves are dark green in color, broad, and have a dense consistency.

Historically grown as a winter variety capable of withstanding cold climatic conditions. The variety was valued for its productivity, however, it had a tendency to bolt and was not distinguished by a long shelf life.
