The variety Géant d'hiver, also known as Géant d'hiver 2, is a non-hybrid late-ripening leek variety. The plant forms a large, thick, and long blanched pseudostem. The leaves have an intense dark green or blue-green color; they are lanceolate, textured, and glossy.

The produce of the variety has a mild, sweetish taste, suitable for preparing soups and stews. Thanks to high winter hardiness, the plants can remain in the soil until spring, and the variety exhibits resistance to bolting.
