The variety is the result of a spontaneous macromutation of the Slavin variety, with the possible appearance of individual bulbs of the parent variety. The plant is vigorous, with upright dark green leaves. The bulb has a regular spherical shape and color ranging from pale purple to white; the clove skin is brown.
Havel belongs to mid-late varieties with a harvest date around July 20. The bulb forms from 5 to 8 cloves. The variety is distinguished by high yield, large bulb size, and a long storage period, allowing for sale until the spring months. The taste is pungent and noble.
