The variety is a perennial rhizomatous grass with a height of 90 to 180 cm. The plant has strong rhizomes, ensuring rapid spread. Leaves have a width of 4.5–5.5 mm, the inflorescence is a dense spike-like panicle 4–10 cm long, and the seeds turn black upon maturation.
The plant is early-maturing, with vegetation beginning early in the spring. The variety is characterized by high nutritional value, good palatability for livestock, and allows for two hay cuttings. It has the ability to withstand prolonged excessive moisture, short-term flooding, cold, and soil salinity.
