Variety description

The plant reaches a height of 1.2–1.5 meters and forms a compact clump. In spring, the foliage is dark green or dark purple, by mid-summer the tips take on a reddish-purple hue, and in autumn they become nearly black. At the end of summer, characteristic three-parted inflorescences appear, also colored purple-red.
The variety is a warm-season grass adapted to USDA hardiness zones 3–9. It is distinguished by high drought tolerance, a developed root system, and lodging resistance, which increases on drier soils. The plant is practically not susceptible to diseases and pests.
