The plant is compact, vigorous, and forms wide, fleshy, and ribbed petioles with a pronounced aroma. The vegetation period from sowing to harvest is approximately 150–200 days.

The main feature of the variety is its ability to self-blanch, whereby the petioles acquire a yellowish-white color without earthing up. The variety is sensitive to frost, and excessive heat may slow its development.

The crop is for table use. The petioles are consumed fresh in salads and are also used for preparing soups and stewed dishes.
