The variety is an open-pollinated plant of German breeding. It belongs to the mid-early maturity group and is characterized by average yield.

The taste is distinguished by a pronounced aroma and slight bitterness. The spears have irregular shape, thickness, and coloration, while the spear tips are tightly closed. The plant has dense cell walls, which provides resistance to a number of diseases and pests; however, the variety does not tolerate intensive cultivation methods, such as the use of plastic mulch.

Due to the lack of commercial uniformity, the variety is less suitable for large-scale mechanized harvesting and transportation, and is therefore more often grown in home gardens or by small farms.
