The Hannibal variety serves as an object for comparative agronomic research. Scientific literature records indicators of mineral content, such as nitrates and sulfates, as well as biomass and shoot count under experimental conditions.

In breeding work, the variety undergoes screening for resistance to the pathogen Fusarium oxysporum. It is assumed that methods of haploid breeding may have been applied during its development.
