The variety is a dioecious plant obtained through the selection of the local population Ruhm von Braunschweig. Unlike modern male hybrids, it maintains genetic diversity and is considered hardy and long-lived.

Plants are traditionally grown for the production of white asparagus. Spear tips may acquire a purple hue upon contact with sunlight due to the accumulation of anthocyanins. Female plants produce decorative red berries by autumn.

The produce of the variety is characterized by distinct creamy, nutty, and almond flavor notes. Stems may have uneven caliber and not always perfectly straight shapes; however, the variety's yield remains stable even under unfavorable conditions.
