The variety is an heirloom cultivar selected from the 'Giant Dutch Purple' variety. The plant can reach a height of 90 to 150 centimeters depending on cultivation conditions.

The spears have a pink-purple tint with tender heads and are noted for high flavor quality. The variety is traditionally used for producing white asparagus by the earthing-up method, but it can also be grown for green spears.

The plant is characterized by perennial endurance and good adaptability. The variety is intended primarily for amateur gardening and home plots.
