Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is intended for green asparagus cultivation. In terms of maturity, it is classified as mid-season; it flowers later than several other varieties, for example, Huetor. The height of the assimilation shoots of the plants is relatively low compared to other European varieties.

The productivity of the variety in comparative trials is assessed as lower than that of modern hybrids, and the size of the shoots is characterized as uniformly small. In the chemical composition of the shoots, a specific profile of saponins and flavonoids has been noted.

The resistance of the variety to lodging and diseases has not been sufficiently studied; however, cases of infestation with Stemphylium vesicarium were recorded in experiments. There are difficulties in identifying the variety, including cases of mistaken identification of Plaverd with the hybrid UC157.
