The variety is a classic German selection from which the variety Huchels Leistungsauslese originated. The plant is not purely male: in plantations, there are both male individuals, which form a larger number of spears, and female individuals, which produce thicker spears with dense, closed heads.
The plants reach a height of 1–1.5 m and form a lush bush. Harvesting begins in the fourth year after planting. The variety is demanding regarding soils: it prefers deep, loose, fertile sandy sites in the sun without water stagnation.
Traditionally used for growing white asparagus using the hilling method. Propagated by seeds sown in the period from March to April.
