The variety was obtained as a result of crossing the lines Detvan and Izák. The plant is characterized as short-growing, while possessing excellent lodging resistance and high resistance to major cereal diseases. In official trials, the variety demonstrated yields higher than control samples.
The grain of the Hronec variety has a high bulk density with a relatively low thousand kernel weight. A certain amount of hulled grains may be present in the harvest. The variety has found application both in the food sector due to the quality indicators of the grain and as high-quality feed.
