The variety has a sub-unilateral panicle type with semi-erect or horizontal branches. The caryopsis is yellow; the variety belongs to the hulled oat types.

Palmitic, oleic, and linoleic fatty acids have been identified in the grain composition of the Atego variety. The crop is used as forage raw material and is also suitable for use in the food industry.
