The Monsun variety belongs to the spring oat group. The origin of the variety is based on the genetic crossing of Flämingsgold and Krezus forms.

The purpose of the variety is food and feed use. In scientific practice, the variety is often used as a comparative sample when assessing grain quality and plant resistance to Fusarium.
