The variety is a product of breeding programs aimed at the development of the oat crop. It is genetically characterized by the introduction of a powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis avenae) resistance gene derived from the wild species Avena sterilis L. var. ludoviciana.

The main advantage of the variety is its resistance to powdery mildew, although it may be susceptible to crown rust (Puccinia coronata avenae). In historical studies, the variety demonstrated high yield compared to control samples.
