The variety was named after its place of origin — the village of Gimsing in the Struer area in Denmark. In literature, the variety is classified as a white fodder beet, sometimes referred to as fodder sugar beet.
Detailed agronomic characteristics of the plant are absent in open publications. The variety appeared in Danish variety trials in the period from 1956 to 1964, in particular, as Hvid Gimsing XII.
