The root crops have a characteristic flat or flat-rounded shape, partially submerged in the soil. The flesh is dark red, sometimes with a violet hue and pronounced rings, with a juicy consistency. The plant is characterized by relatively short leaves, reaching a height of 20–45 cm.

The variety is early-maturing, with a maturation period ranging from 65 to 120 days. The crop is drought-tolerant and possesses high resistance to bolting. The variety is not demanding regarding soils, but prefers light and well-drained ground; it tolerates transplanting poorly, therefore direct sowing into the ground is recommended.

The root crops are versatile in use: suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and long-term winter storage. In the European tradition, the variety is known as Ägyptische plattrunde, while Russian-language sources describe a domestic breeding variety with identical morphological traits under a similar name.
