Variety description

10 August 2026

The Scala variety is a specialized cover crop used for improving soil structure, suppressing weeds, and accumulating organic matter. The plant has a high glucosinolate content, which makes it an effective biofumigation agent: when green mass is incorporated into the soil, active substances are released that suppress pathogenic fungi of the genera Pythium, Rhizoctonia, and Verticillium.

The variety is characterized by rapid initial development and intensive growth, forming a significant volume of leaf and root mass in a short period. The root system is notable for its active development, which contributes to improving the physical properties of the soil. The variety is mid-maturing and possesses a degree of winter hardiness characteristic of this mustard species.
