The fodder swede cultivar Vėžaičiai was developed by specialists at the Vėžaičiai branch of the Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry. The cultivar is intended for fodder purposes and is most often mentioned in literature in the context of agrotechnical experiments dedicated to studying the effect of fertilizers on biomass and crop quality.

Detailed morphological descriptors of the cultivar, such as maturity indicators, plant height, or resistance to specific diseases, are absent in open publications. In documentation, the cultivar may cause confusion due to the use of the same name for other crops, in particular forage turnip.
