The Vige variety is characterized by a high vitamin C content and a relatively low nitrate content. In scientific research, this variety was used as genetic material for studying resistance to turnip yellows virus.

In 1997, 350 homozygous lines were obtained from the Vige variety using the microspore culture method to improve crop uniformity. Subsequently, the Vigod variety was bred based on it. It is used as a fodder and food crop.
