The Greendale variety belongs to marrow-stem kale. During the period of its use as a standard variety in trials, the dry matter yield was 103.6 centners per hectare, of which 70.5 c/ha accounted for stems and 33.1 c/ha for leaves.

In comparative characteristics, protein content was rated at 4 points for stems and 8 points for leaves. Crude fiber content was 7 points in stems and 5 points in leaves, and plant height was rated at 6 points.
