The variety forms dense, medium-sized heads; the leaves have a characteristic dark red color. The produce is used both fresh and for culinary processing.
When sown in July–August, harvesting begins in October. The variety is traditional and belongs to the public domain. It may be susceptible to pests, therefore companion planting with celery is recommended.
