The plant has a fairly tall stem. The outer leaves are very large, with broad wavy edges, red-violet in color, sometimes with a greenish tinge, and are covered with an abundant waxy bloom.
The variety is a classic representative of landrace selection, historically associated with the seed-growing center in Erfurt. It was used as a table variety, and due to its status as a landrace, its characteristics may vary depending on the seed propagator.
