The variety is late-ripening, with a period from sowing to technical maturity of 110 to 150 days. The plant forms a vigorous rosette and round, dense heads weighing 1.5–2 kg. The leaf blade is thin, crinkled, and deep green with a purple-red hue.
The plant possesses high cold hardiness, is able to withstand frosts and remain in the open field until snowfall, while the heads are resistant to cracking. The harvested crop is suitable for storage for 1–1.5 months.
The variety is traditionally grown in Northern Italy and is used fresh for salads or culinary processing, including the preparation of soups and fillings. Due to the characteristics of the leaf structure, it is not used for pickling.
