The plant is a compact evergreen shrub 25–40 cm tall, reaching 60 cm at ten years of age. The dark green foliage remains decorative throughout the year.
The variety belongs to the "bud-flowering" heather group, whose flowers do not open fully, providing resistance to rain and frost. The buds have a saturated purple-pink or velvet-red color; the flowering period falls between September and November.
The plant is frost-hardy, adapted to USDA zones 4–7 and temperatures down to –28°C. In conditions of excessive humidity, infection with powdery mildew is possible. Pruning of shoots in mid-March is recommended to maintain the form; the variety prefers acidic well-drained soils and sunny areas.
