The variety belongs to the bud-flowering (budbloomers) group, whose buds do not open completely, which ensures prolonged flowering from the end of summer to late autumn. The plant is a compact, bushy evergreen shrub 35–60 cm tall with a comparable crown diameter.
Flowers of a bright pink or dark purple shade are collected in dense raceme-like inflorescences at the ends of the shoots. Needle-like scaly foliage of a dark green color retains its color during the winter period.
The plant requires a sunny location and strictly acidic, well-drained soil. It tolerates water stagnation poorly. It is used in landscape design for planting in rock gardens, flower beds, borders, and also for cultivation in containers and flower pots.
