The plant is an evergreen low-growing shrub 20–40 cm in height with a compact, dense, broadly upright or cushion-shaped crown. The leaves are small, scale-like, dark green, and arranged oppositely. The bush is not prone to lodging.

The variety belongs to the bud-flowering heathers: its flowers do not open fully, which ensures resistance to weather conditions. The buds have a pink-violet, lilac, or reddish-violet color. Flowering is prolonged, lasting from the end of August or September through October-November.

The plant is frost-hardy and vigorous. It is light-loving and tolerates light partial shade. It prefers acidic, permeable sandy, peat, or humus soils. Annual spring pruning in March-April is recommended to maintain shape and stimulate growth.

It is used as an ornamental plant for landscaping heather gardens, rock gardens, rockeries, mixed borders, edging, as well as for container gardening on balconies and terraces.
