The variety is an evergreen low-growing shrub 20–50 cm tall. It belongs to the group of "bud-blooming" heathers, in which flower buds remain closed in the form of tight buttons. Flowers are small, white in color; foliage is dark green, needle-like or scale-like.
Flowering lasts from August to November. The plant is frost-resistant (USDA zones 4–7), prefers sunny locations and acidic, well-drained soils. Used in ornamental gardening for planting in rock gardens, heather gardens, mass plantings, and containers.
