The plant forms a compact bush with a height ranging from 20–25 cm in pot culture to 50–60 cm when grown in the open field. The period from germination to fruit ripening is 90–105 days.
The fruits are small, cone-shaped, and directed upward. During the ripening process, the color changes, passing through stages of green, yellow, cream, purple, orange, and red. The fruits have a pungent taste and are used for decorative purposes, for canning, and as a seasoning.
