The variety is a sweet pepper hybrid. In official EU documents, it is recorded as an independent breeding unit with a hybrid designation.

Although the variety is associated in a number of characteristics with the Friggitello type used in cooking for frying and baking, in registries it is a separate entry and is not identical to traditional landraces of Italian origin.
