The plant is characterized as compact and branching, with a height ranging from 30 to 100 cm. The period from planting to the onset of fruiting takes about 70–80 days.
The fruits have a narrow, elongated shape, 4 to 15 cm in length. The pungency level varies in the range from 5,000 to 50,000 SHU. The variety has a universal purpose: it is suitable for fresh consumption, pickling, drying, and powder preparation.
There is also a variety called Lanterna Rosso, the fruits of which have a bell shape and turn red upon biological maturity.
