The Matica variety belongs to the 'half-bell' type and externally resembles the Serbian 'Somborka' variety; however, unlike it, it is sweet. The fruits have a conical shape with one pointed tip and a width of about 5.4 cm.
The variety is characterized as mid-season or mid-late and is intended for fresh consumption. In scientific research, the variety was used as breeding material to study the reaction to bacterial spot.
