The variety is the subject of multi-year breeding work aimed at creating a unique local product associated with the agricultural traditions of the Rieti territory in Italy. The breeding process was based on methods of selection and crossing of various parent forms with known fruit characteristics.
At the present time, the variety does not have officially established characteristics for maturity, yield, or disease resistance, as the work on its breeding and the fixation of traits is experimental in nature. Visually, the plants are compared to a pepper variety called "dog's nose".
