The variety is an open-pollinated plant. The fruits are heart-shaped, large, with thick flesh, changing color from dark green to bright scarlet during maturation, reaching a size of about 7.5 cm.
The plant is vigorous, well-leafed, and reaches a height of 50–75 cm. It belongs to the mid-season maturity group with a ripening period of 70 to 100 days. It possesses resistance to tobacco mosaic virus.
The fruits are traditionally used in cooking for salads, garnishes, canning, as well as a filling for olives and raw material for paprika production. Historically, the variety was used in breeding as a reference standard for the pimento type.
