The variety is a linoleic type of safflower for oilseed use. The plant forms yellow flowers that retain their color in both fresh and dry states. The seeds are distinguished by a white color and high test weight.

The variety is susceptible to Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt. In scientific literature, it is used primarily as a reference standard for studying resistance to Puccinia carthami rust or as a parent component in breeding programs.
