In 1952, the varietal line «Český» was used in Czechoslovakia. This breeding type belonged to the category of shattering plants, which created difficulties during mechanized harvesting.
Under modern conditions, this term is a collective brand and a protected geographical indication. New non-shattering varieties that meet quality standards, including an essential oil content of at least 2.8%, are grown under this name.
