The variety is native to southeastern France and is traditionally grown in the Ardèche, Lozère, Gard, and Hérault departments at altitudes from 200 to 400 meters above sea level. The plant is characterized as very energetic and upright; with proper pollination, it is productive.

The fruit has a triangular shape with a point and a reddish-brown color that dulls after falling. The variety is early-ripening, has moderate suitability for mechanical peeling, and medium keeping quality. In literature, the variety is also mentioned under the name Aiguillonne.

The variety is less resistant to ink disease and chestnut blight compared to modern hybrids. Information on exact tree height indicators is unavailable.
