The Colarinha variety is an endogenous Portuguese cultivar cultivated primarily in the Marvão and Portalegre area and is part of the Castanha Marvão-Portalegre Protected Designation of Origin. The tree is included in the official genetic resource collections of Portugal.
The fruits of the variety are classified as small or medium, with a count per kilogram ranging from 84 to 96 units. They have a sweet taste with a faint aroma. The variety is susceptible to traditional chestnut diseases, including ink disease caused by Phytophthora cinnamomi.
