The flowers are large, up to 5 cm in diameter, and resemble camellia in appearance. Flowering occurs in early spring on the previous year's shoots, before the leaves appear; a repeat wave is possible at the end of summer.
The variety withstands temperature drops down to -25°C and corresponds to USDA hardiness zones 5–9. It is resistant to lodging but may be susceptible to fungal diseases, scab, and fire blight.
