The variety is part of the Lady group, obtained in Poland via mutagenesis of the parent variety Richmond by exposure to ionizing radiation. The plant is characterized by golden-brown inflorescence color.

Lady Amber is classified as a solid mutant, demonstrating in experiments relative phenotype stability during propagation via adventitious buds. In in vitro studies, explants of the variety exhibit dependence on topophysis, which influences growth parameters, shoot length, and multiplication rate.
