The Calia variety is adapted for spring sowing and belongs to the kabuli type. The plant is characterized by a specific composition of protein fractions with a high level of vicilin expression.

In scientific literature, this variety is used as a control when conducting comparative analyses of seed physical properties, such as water absorption and 100-seed weight, as well as when studying the morphophysiological variability of chickpeas.
